VOIP service and home security alarms?

Any ideas on how to make it work? I don’t want to get another line from AT&T just for this (the switch to VOIP was to save some $$)

no, your security alarm will not work now, but thanks to so many ppl having voIP now, get alarm for Voip…you don’t need an land-line…here are some VoIP home alarm companies….
Vonage has there own home alarm system just for VoIP…I don’t know which company you have, but chances are they already have VoIP home alarm, just give them a call….

Try setting the sound quality to 90 KPBS Per second which is the best setting!
Also alarms are run with a loop circut, there is a phone jack next to the alarm system, get a telephone and make sure you have dial tone. It could be possble you did not connect up the alarm properly when you switched to vonage and there is no dialtone for the alarm to dial out on.

I will give you this bit of advise, if you loose power and do not have a UPS (Uninteruptable Power Supply) and you loose power your alarm will not work period. If your internet provider goes down same as above. If you want to protect your stuff Id suggest at least getting a landline for your alarm system. They are very reliable and do not need power provided by the customer.
