If you have access to a Volt Ohm Meter then try to check the continuity on the magnetic switch. If that checks out you will have to inspect the wire from that switch to the console to see if there is a break.

If you are 100% sure that it isn’t the contact point, the only other solution is that the wire is not connected or that it has a break in the wire somewhere along the way. Something like this is an easy fix and it would be quite possible for the wire to break since it is only 18 or 20 guarge wire (about like dental floss).

I would be sure to check with your alarm company and tell them of your problem. My wife worked for an alarm company and whenever there is a problem with someone’s system it was in their contract to fix it free of charge. You can also strong arm them by saying that if they won’t fix it for free then you are going to go elsewhere. It’s at least worth a try. They are there to provide you a service and any good company would be more than willing to meet your expectations of service.

take the switch off check wires on switch using magnet to verify it works when close to switch and then away…..If magnet is ok and close enough then usually either switch is bad or a wire is broken…
