In the UK its very common once a household has been burgled, and the items replaced with new items for them to be targeted again.

You have done the right thing thing having an alarm fitted, we have victim support the information is supplied by the Police who investigate the crime.

Do you not have a similar scheme, as they may be able to offer some kind of counseling/advice.

We also used to have crime prevention officers who come out ans ***** the security of your home, checking window locks and alarms, and offer advice on how to mark your property and natural deterrents like prickly plants under windows to stop prowlers.

Sorry about your ordeal, I am married to a Police Officer and we got bugled while we slept:(

While they are both on 2.4 GHz that is actually a band of channels. Therefore there are multiple channels available. I wasn't able to find any details about how the Xbox works, other than hints that it is "like bluetooth but better, that is is still on when the controller is off, and that the signal jumps around over the band. The link below hints that some people have had problems, and others haven't. This is speculation. The only way to know for sure is to try it.

Don't know what your project is, but this may help if the interference is an issue. There are stand alone WIFI boxes with serial port outlets that are handy for remote control from a WIFI network or as a WIFI point to point network. They could be controlled from a PC somewhere on the network. Communication is through your own software on the PC, using messages as if for ethernet. At the remote end, you need to receive and interpret the message as an RS232 signal.

It has been my experience that 99.9% of break and enters occur when people are not home, therefore your alarm system is your best defence against a re-occurrence.

Here in Canada, the only justification for shooting someone is if you have a reasonable fear of serious bodily harm or death. You need to think about this before you shoot a unarmed 15yr old boy holding your dvd player. Here in Canada you would be held accountable for any excessive use of force.

Well the answer is yes and no. it depends on the technology u are using. 2.4 gig band is actually divided into several channels. so if the channel used by ur x box and ur camera are different then they wont interfere. there is one more possibility that you are using a common router for both of them. In that case this problem can easily be solved by just changing the channelfrom ur router.....

I read some of the answers and think the "attack gator" was pretty funny and I bet it would work but you can't do that.

You can't move because of it either. Robberies can happen anywhere. I just moved into a really nice subdivison in rural Michigan to find out after that more than 12 neighborhood houses have been broken into here. On January 12th, another house was broken into also. I am a little ticked that I wasn't told that ahead of time but what can you do, right?

I have since aquired a large Lab who will bite strangers and am looking into an alarm. I am not keeping money in the house and bought new locking systems for my exterior doors. Some of the robberies here are happening during the day so, I've been working more out of my house than leaving lately. I am awaiting my turn to be robbed so, I can grab whoever it is up. He'll have something very scary to deal with, which is me.

It's only been a week since your robbery so, I am sure it will take a little more time to get over but you will be okay after a while. As time goes by, it will not be on your mind so much.

Lieberdude is a loyal citizen, just not loyal to your country

We have such cameras throughout the city of Ipswich, the only result in nearly five years is some good footage of violent crime
No successful prosecutions

technology is no substitute for Police dudes on the beat

Yes they will interfere with each other. That the signals are different, doesn't change the fact that they are on the same frequency.
You could speak english, and another spanish, but if your cell phones had the same channel/frequency, don't you think it would still interfere?
This is the same thing.
It's the same reason that RC car owners have a box of radio crystals, so they can change channels when running next to each other.

i'm not sure if that's a good site for video surveillance. i would recommend this one for you:. it will tell you all you need to know about video surveillance and how to choose one that fits right to your needs.

You probably never will. When I was younger I was spending the night with a friend in my parents caravan which was on their driveway. During the night someone tried to break in while we were in it. It was very frightening. This was about 10 years ago now. I now live with my partner and I still get frightened. You just have to remember that you have the alarm and if someone does try to break in, the sound of the alarm will scare them away.
